Bleed the injectors if there is still air. While bleeding the injectors, keep the throttle in the side open position. Only loosen two. Only open two injectors at a time while cranking the engine – or open the bleed screw if they have one (Perkins don’t) – starting with the one closest to the high pressure pump. Use a priming ball (the same item that comes with your outboard motor’s gasoline line) if everything else fails. Pump the fuel through the system after inserting the priming ball into the injector outlet line. Use the transfer pump’s priming lever until clear fuel flows out. Then on to the next injector. Then bleed the Perkins high-pressure injection pump. Find the bleeding nipples. As you face the side of the Perkins engine, the upper bleed nipple on a Perkins 4108 mechanical (not hydraulic) pump is at the right corner of the pump. Begin with the lower nipple immediately below this one. Make sure the shut-off solenoid’s ESO is in the open position.
