Shell UK is pleased to announce that it has accepted offers for the sale of 185 company-owned service stations and has exchanged contracts for 158 of them. Shell welcomes Motor Fuel Group (MFG) as a Shell dealer and expands its partnership with Euro Garages as a result of this acquisition. Contracts for the remaining service stations are expected to be swapped in the following weeks.
Shell’s Retail General Manager for North Europe, David Moss, said: “I’m thrilled that these dealers have chosen Shell to help them build their companies, and that they share our commitment to providing high-quality goods and excellent customer service.
With record sales of our premium fuel, Shell V-Power Nitro+, the expansion of our popular Deli2Go food and beverage selection, and our new partnership with PayPal, we will be able to provide mobile payment to more than four million customers every week.
The 185 Shell-branded service stations will be located throughout the United Kingdom. Shell’s high-quality fuels will be sold by dealers for at least the next five years after the transaction.
Motor Fuel Group has purchased 90 of the 158 company-owned locations disclosed today, while Euro Garages has purchased 68.
By the end of 2015, these service stations will be handed over to their new owners.
Moss continued, “Whether the service station is run by Shell or an independent dealer, our top aim is to provide a consistently outstanding customer experience across our network.
That’s why we chose these independent dealers to work with since they will invest in the sites and strive to meet the Shell brand’s high standards of safety and customer service.
Following the strategic decision to lower the number of Shell company-owned service stations to roughly 550 and expand the dealer network, the sale of 185 Shell service stations marked the culmination of a commercial process that began in September 2014.
