What Is V-Power Gasoline?

Shell V-Power NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline is designed to help keep your engine running like new by providing four levels of protection against muck, corrosion, wear, and friction. This unique formula is the most advanced and sophisticated fuel we’ve ever created. It’s no surprise that Shell V-Power NiTRO+ is recommended by BMW M and has been the official gasoline of Car and Driver and Road & Track publications for over ten years.

What’s the difference between ordinary gas and V-Power?

Unleaded gasoline (petrol) is available in two forms: Shell V-Power (SVP) and Shell Fuel Save (SFS) Unleaded. Today, Ugandan law requires that all petrol fuel imported for our local fuel market from Mombasa or Eldoret refineries, as well as from other countries, be unleaded. Unleaded petrol fuels from Shell V-Power (SVP) and Shell Fuel Save (SFS) are made differently to provide specific benefits that cater to the demands of particular drivers. Both SVP and SFS Unleaded have additives that improve engine efficiency, protection, and overall performance.

Shell V-Power is a one-of-a-kind premium gasoline with a metal-free formulation and cutting-edge technology to help engines reach their full power potential. SVP is a gasoline with a higher RON (relative octane number) of 95. SFS unleaded has a lower octane rating of 93 than other conventional gasoline or gasoline fuels on the market. Unleaded petrol with a higher octane level, such as SVP, burns more slowly than unleaded petrol with a lower octane rating. Premature combustion or auto igniting at the same time as the spark ignition is prevented by the gradual burn. The higher RON of Shell V-Power inhibits premature ignition and allows for timely ignition during combustion, preventing damaging and power-robbing cylinder knock or ping. Shell V-Power gives drivers the exhilaration of a powerful engine while keeping their intake valves clean and free of hazardous or wasteful deposits.

Shell Fuel Save Unleaded fuel has been designed to last longer in the engine by reducing energy losses and keeping the intake valves clean. Shell Fuel Save Unleaded (petrol) is designed for drivers who wish to save money by driving more miles per litre of gas.

Is V-Power gas suitable for your vehicle?

You don’t have it. Engines are designed to meet a specified minimum octane rating for power, fuel efficiency, and emissions. Shell V-Power NiTRO+ not only meets or exceeds your engine’s minimal octane standards, but it’s also the only Shell gasoline with four layers of protection against muck, corrosion, wear, and friction, which can be achieved in all gasoline engines.

Is it true that V-Power makes a difference?

Shell is proud of its collaboration with Scuderia Ferrari on research and development. Ferrari is Shell’s major testing partner for fuel formulas and oils, and the partnership dates back to the early days of Formula One racing.

Dr. Cantlay revealed, “Shell V-Power is actually 99 percent the same as the gasoline compounds used by the Ferrari F1 team.” The fuels are so close currently that an F1 car could run on V-Power or a street car could run on F1 fuel. But that still doesn’t explain what kind of damage such fuel may cause in a typical car on the road.

Dr. Cantlay discussed a few important advantages of using V-Power over more traditional methods. Friction Modification Technology, which has been raised by 25% in the current formulation, is at the top of the list. When it comes to the inevitable loss of power due to heat and friction before you obtain your final power output, Dr. Cantlay of Scotland said, “You cannot change the laws of physics,” without a wink or a nudge to suggest he was riffing on a particular Star Trek engineer’s famous comments. In essence, this technology decreases power loss by reducing friction between important engine components, resulting in a higher final power output to move the car.

Second, V-Power contains cleaning and protecting ingredients that prevent carbon deposits from forming in the intake valves and fuel injectors while also clearing any existing deposits. It also functions as a corrosion preventative.

The Shell pitch is to use V-Power for the long haul in order to get the most out of your engine. However, for the vast majority of drivers, this will never be a factor. So, what are some of the advantages of more casual usage?

The friction modifiers are a quick-acting addition that improves performance while the engine is running on V-Power gasoline. This also means that if you switch back to a regular gasoline, the benefits will vanish just as rapidly.

On the other side, the cleaning technology has a longer-term benefit. Dr. Cantlay cited Shell tests as evidence that this improves performance in engines that have been running on regular fuel for a long time.

Shell V-Power can eliminate significant amounts of build up over the course of months of use. Even if you revert to regular fuels once this treatment has had a few months to increase engine cleanliness, there would be continuous benefits.

One hypothesis we came up with was that in the months preceding up to a driving vacation or any long road journey, you should use a fuel like Shell V-Power. If you’re planning a long vacation and want your car to function at its best, give the cleaning advantages some time to work their magic before you go.

Of all, there are so many variables at play that putting an exact percentage value on performance or power gains is impossible. So yet, all we have are Shell’s fuel feature descriptions and a personal “feel” for whether anything was different on the road.

To that aim, in my own 2005 Honda Civic sedan, my little guinea pig is putting the experience to the test by utilizing exclusively Shell V-Power fuel. I’ll be sticking with V-Power from late October to the New Year, and taking a lot of long journeys between Sydney, the Southern Highlands, and the Hunter Valley during that period. In January, I’ll report on if there were any discernible advantages to utilizing such a fuel in a cherished, but stock standard, compact family car.

What are the benefits of V-Power fuel?

Allowing for timely ignition during combustion decreases cylinder knock, which is both detrimental and power-robbing. Friction Modification Technology (FMT) is used in Shell V-Power to reduce the loss of engine power and energy (fuel) caused by heat and friction between the engine pistons and cylinder walls. The FMT from SVP uses a chemical lubricant or friction modifier in the gasoline to lubricate the upper piston ring, which is normally dry. This saves a lot of energy by allowing the engine to run lighter and with less fuel consumption.

What are Shell V-advantages? Power’s

Shell V-Power Unleaded Fuel offers up to 4% greater power than regular unleaded fuel.

  • Aids in the reduction of engine friction.
  • Cleans the inlet valves and/or the fuel injector nozzle.
  • Aids in the cleaning of critical fuel system components.
  • Our top-of-the-line performance fuels.

Is ethanol present in V-Power?

You can use Shell V-Power gasoline, which contains no more than 5% ethanol. After E10 is introduced, Shell V-Power will be accessible at the majority of our service stations; just be sure to check the label when you fill up.

Is V-Power Nitroglycerine the same as premium nitroglycerine?

Shell V-Power NiTRO+ is America’s best-selling premium gasoline brand, with four levels of defense against muck, wear, corrosion, and friction to help keep your engine running like new*. It’s available at over 13,000 Shell-branded stations across the country.
