- Time Warner Cable is currently offering HBO’s 20 channels for $10 per month, down from $16 per month, and it does not appear to be a limited-time offer.
- HBO is available for $10 per month for a year on Verizon, which is half off the typical price.
Not every cable provider has jumped into the fray. For example, Cablevision continues to charge $15 per month, but it is the first pay-TV service provider to announce that it will carry the impending HBO Now service, so there may be less incentive to reduce ordinary pricing.
With the recent announcements of new streaming alternativesSling TV, Sony PlayStation Vue, and an Apple service set to launch this autumn, the key takeaway is that now is a wonderful opportunity to haggle with your pay TV provider to see if you can get a better bargain on your programming package.

HBO Max, the network’s standalone streaming service, is available even if you don’t have a Prime Video subscription. Even if you don’t get Prime Video, this will cost you $14.99 every month. However, if you enjoy both Prime originals and HBO television, it’s more convenient to combine the two accounts and get all of your streaming entertainment in one spot.
