Because Hertz does not take debit cards at the time of pick-up, you’ll have to pay the security deposit with a credit card (American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Diner’s Club) or your Hertz Charge Card.

Renting a car with cash is more challenging. Some Enterprise shops will accept cash or a money order as payment, but only with a stack of paperwork. Proof of insurance, two utility bills, personal references, a paycheck stub, and a driver’s license from the same state are all required. When you pick up the car, you must pay the whole rental price plus a minimum deposit of $100 to $300, depending on the location.
If you pay cash, Enterprise will send you a check for your security deposit reimbursement, which you can mail or pick up at the rental location.
